The Paradox of “Knowing”

Did you hear the news today? Concerning the nature of reality, apparently, the more we find out, the less we know! The rabbit’s hole is deeper and darker than anyone could have previously anticipated, or imagined. For what was once a simple, basic existence, has since become a pandora’s box of russian dolls – and that’s the layman’s version!

If one were to converse with “the experts” one to one, one could be forgiven for concluding that life has pretty much been figured out and all is sure. When, however, one takes a step back and looks at the greater collage of discussions taking place, it is quite easy to see that nobody has a waking clue what they are talking about, nor what is known to be “on the other side”.

Everyone is so stern in keeping their eyes fixed in their own direction (The Left only sees the left, The Right only sees the right, and neither can see themselves looking at the same thing from different angles. The word “Man” and “fallible” seem to be completely interchangeable to me, and that’s not right. It’s not left either. That’s just how it is. Simple. Pure. Basic. Truth.

The real truth is that we each create our own lives and our own reality, here and now. Even the befores and afters are all created and re-enacted here and now, in the mind. It can be ascertained, though, that nothing escapes the moment. Nothing.

One would think that the past is concrete and set in the stones of time; and that what has been – has been, and cannot possibly change hence. The truth is that the past is simply how we perceive it to be. How we imagine it to be. How we “wish” it to be. How we choose to see anything, is how it becomes for you and I, in our mind’s eye.

We are a wonderfully fickle race of existents. Surely after sharing this tiny bubble for so long, we should have finally figured out and actualised the road to peace, love and unity by now. Of course, the previous statement is only true if we are indeed the advanced, evolved and enlightened species we are told to think we are.

Y’know, sometimes I wonder if the real reason the bees are being annihilated is so future generations have nothing to compare the copycat system of the human race to… this also does not leave me with much hope for the fate of our tiny neighbours, the poor unfortunate ants.

So, whether you choose to create your own life path, or decide to follow another’s, the choice is always and completely yours. How you choose to experience any given situation, “passed”, “presented”, or yet to be, is always and completely your choice. And finally, how you decide and choose to treat another Noun (a delightful definition isn’t it?), is, has been, and always will be yours and yours alone to bear the responsibility of.

So choose well, comrades, and may The Moose be with you.

Yours wakefully,

SM

It’s all because we still have rulers in a system of hierarchy.

In order to keep control of driving the ‘big bus of civilisation’ these rulers must convince us that the bus is actually a train and that the train is on tracks called ‘progress’. So they teach us in schools that humans started as cavemen and followed a path of linear progress, gradually getting more and more advanced as a natural and inevitable consequence of time. The message they constantly reinforce to us is “No need to worry about steering you see! Progress is inevitable! We’re on tracks. As your train drivers our only job is to make sure the engine is running smoothly. If things start to look bad out the window it’s just because we aren’t progressing fast enough and we haven’t yet reached the train’s destination of true progress – but no need to get out of your seats, we have to be getting closer all the time! We’re on tracks!”

If they told us the truth – that highly technological, socially sophisticated and spiritually/ philosophically enlightened civilisations existed long ago but disappeared and that the Sumerians, and the Egyptians were a LEGACY of those civilisations which is why they actually degraded (not progressed) over time – then everyone would say,

“Shit that means it’s possible for civilisation to go in the wrong direction! This changes everything! It means we might be going in the wrong direction too! That means this train must have a steering wheel up front somewhere! That means we’re not on tracks at all and this idea that every social, economic, technological, geopolitical or any other problem can only be solved by shovelling more coal in the furnaces and stepping on the gas pedal is a lie! We actually have to be careful how we *steer* this damn thing called civilisation!!!!”

And with that our rulers lose control of the train, which is really a bus, as we all clamber forwards to help steer the thing from being driven off the cliff that is fast approaching.

    The end 🙂

    1. Yes! That is exactly it. Once we realise that we can take the reigns and steer the course of evolution we will realise that it’s ok to slow down and maybe even stop once in a while to look around and smell the flowers and make “evolved” decisions about how next to proceed for the benefit of all. And that doesn’t just mean all now, but all those who have yet to come. Government, business, and religion need to either start taking responsibility for the power they wield or take a step back in their significance on this beautiful planet we all share and call home.

Wonderful comment, thank you very much 🙂

      1. “….Government, business, and religion need to either start taking responsibility for the power they wield or take a step back in their significance on this beautiful planet we all share and call home…”

Hmmm… I’m not sure the ‘powers that be’ will ever step back or become responsible of their own accord. That’s like saying the rats had better move out and tidy up before they do so we can gain access to our nice clean home again. LOL

I think the change has to come from us realising how great it would be if we all assumed responsibility again for the direction of our own society (our own lives!), rather than always deferring it to authority figures – a sure recipe for disaster!

There is this theory floating about that civilisations based on rigid hierarchies (such as our own) were a product of some major earth cataclysms, such as the floods at the end of the last ice age which scientists now know caused the sea level to rise in rapid increments (by the tens of meters each time). This would have wiped out most of settlements (situated on the coasts as they always are). It has been calculated that an area the size of Europe and West Asia combined was lost as the sea levels rose 10,000 years ago.

Imagine the intensity of the collective trauma produced by a permanent 40m sea level rise overnight all around the world…. and then another a few decades later…and so on. The theory is that we had no choice but to revert to a rigid (and violent) hierarchy based as a result of that trauma. It’s well known that when we are traumatised we tend to seek strong leaders and we feel more comfortable being told what to do. It’s also known that trauma can be transmitted via the DNA across generations.

Perhaps we are just now finally starting to recover, hence the crumbling of rigid belief systems and hierarchy in our culture (in our minds) ……. resulting in the defensive, panic stricken actions of the ‘powers that be’ as they desperately think up ways to frighten us into still needing their rule!

Who knows….. something’s going on – whatever it is. LOL
